On the eastern boundary of the Minnesota-shaped memorial stands a limestone image of a house suggesting “the home soldiers yearned for, and the actual home that did not always warmly welcome their return.” This peaceful evening the house stood at attention before our celebrated wall of honor. Within the view of our state capital, the Minnesota Vietnam Veterans Memorial felt like a spiritual refuge. These men were finally respected and welcomed home.
